Day 31

In 31 days I have learned...

I use "I" too much in my writing. I've also learned that if you want to have interesting things to write about, you must get out there and do interesting things. Rushed writing is challenging.

My thoughts are mostly about my children and what they are going through right now, the emotional struggle I am having with them getting older, and how do I parent them in the phase of life they are in.

The writers who share slices have taught me so much in which I am terribly grateful. This is the first time in a long time that I have committed to and done something for 31 days in a row. There are so many things to learn and in so many ways to grow and I hope someday I will be a good writer.

I am a better teacher by having more experience to share with my students.

Thank you "Slice of Life" for all of your work. Thank you,my two mentors, who commented on every post.

  1. Yay! You made it! I was a new slicer this year and was a bit skeptical I'd be able to finish, but lo and behold, March 31st is here! I completely agree about the rushed writing- its tough!

  2. Look how much you've learned! I loved your observation that in order to have something to write about, you must do something interesting. (Although, while I do agree that you have to live life in order to write, I'd also push you to consider what small, mundane, ordinary things can become slices! I've seen people write about their shoes, or a favorite purse, or a pen!) So glad you got a lot out of the challenge, and I hope you'll continue slicing on Tuesdays! It's an incredible way to lift your teaching!

  3. Congratulations on completing the challegne. I am feeling what you said about getting out and doing intersting things in order to write interesting posts. I beleive that was my problem this although I also agree with Jennifer above - we can write interesting things about small mundane things! Good luck with keeping the writing going!

  4. Congratulations! Your sharing of learning proved a fitting, stylish way to cross the finish line. As far as rules like how much (or how little) to do something as a writer, those are -- cliche alert! -- meant to be broken :)
